LED light source still is mainstream technology of micro projection in the next two years

The micro projector, since the second half of 2008 into mass production, liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) and TI (Texas Instruments) independently developed the digital light processing (Digital Light Process; DLP),there are two technical, and called the mainstream for micro projection technology. At present, two kinds of micro projection technology using LED as the light source, in LED mass production
as the LED production of the high ability of mass production manufacturers more and more, the cost is also continued to decline. Among them, the LCoS micro projection technology can be used for white light LED with color filter, effectively reduce the micro projector costs, and enhance the penetration rate.

In 2010, with the consumer electronics market is gradually recovering, terminal manufacturers and consumers of micro projector technology requirements will be more strict. Therefore micro projector quality development will have three major trends, including brightness upgrade, the resolution improvement, and improved color performance.

In order to improve the luminance, LED vendors are increased the LED luminous efficiency year by year white LED with a color filter, although the advantage of reducing costs, but inevitably affect the color performance, so LCoS pico projectors terminal manufacturers have shift to RGB Full color LED pixel light source. As for the resolution, although decided by the panel side in theoretically , but if the brightness of less than a certain standard, then high resolution panel, is immune to the appropriate display.In addition to LED, the laser also has bigger opportunity for mini projector light source potential. At present, although there have been a variety of new micro projection technology with laser light source, but only American Microvision alone developed the two-dimensional scanning MEMS micro-projection technology has been introduced into mass production in early 2010.
Although the laser light collimation good because without merit manual focus, but will thus cause the laser spot (Speckle) phenomena affect the quality, though not not be solved, but still big trouble.
In addition, the current due to the green laser into volume production time soon, and only American Corning (Corning) can be mass production, the price is expensive,  so with laser in the mini projector light source to achieve popularity may have more than 2 years.

Target classification and application of led pixel light
