Whether LED will emit infrared?
An old friend emailed me to ask.
Q:LED claim to not emit infrared and ultraviolet light, but I holding a ceramic of 40W COB LED in yesterday, my hand lamp glass nearby, lit by hand there is a feeling of heat, and the heat from the thermal radiation source of LED only. How you see it?
My reply: Any object will emit infrared radiation(bring infra red heaters), and LED is no exception. The so-called LED spectroscopy without infrared, refers to its can not radiate infrared spectroscopy band directly. However, due to itself having a certain temperature, so the LED chip or the led package will be send some infrared.
In the case of LED, has been the different between the two:* the emission of infrared and *ordinary surfaces emit infrared.
LED’s surface because of the temperature (as long as the case is not absolute zero) emitting infrared, there will be emitted infrared excitation PN junction(just like Ir Led Strip). In Currently seen red LED test report is true. Other light-colored LED is still no actual test report.Do not think that the cold will not emit infrared light. your home TV remote control with infrared emission is a cold light source, it emits is infrared.
